Trees are Life

Selected for Quay Arts Open Biennial 2023 –
‘The Art of Sculpture’

‘Trees are Life’ illustrates in five rings the importance of trees to the survival of humanity. The trees in the centre are full of colour, they are 3D standing for how they support thousands of species as well as each other. The second ring becomes 2D, showing de-forested areas replaced with sterile and nature depleted tree plantations. The next ring is humankind’s exploitation, disconnection, and movement away from respecting the natural world. The side edge depicts the breaking down of the manufactured as resources are depleted. Finally, a glimmer of green thread appears as the planet takes its first steps to recovery.
